Workshops

Last year, Pauline & Bob commenced conducting Sculpting and Mold Making Workshops.

We are planning to run a couple of Workshops each year.  They will be live-in, fully catered, workshop of 4 days duration.  We have a house with 4 bedrooms for accommodation, and all meals will be provided.

Contact us if you are interested in doing a workshop with us.  We may be able to fit in another one sometime in 2007.

WORKSHOP 1.

Below:  These pictures are from Day 1 of the workshop.

Left to right.  1. Geraldene hard at work.  2. Her work in the early stages.  3. Pauline suggests a change.  4. The two girls working on their "two girls".    5. Geraldine's sculpture really takes shape.  Well done!!  6.  Lights out in the studio.

Below:  Day 2

Boy, Geraldene's work is looking great, and why wouldn't Geraldene look pleased!  Geraldine is using an old sculpture of Pauline's to copy a few features.  I think you can really see it coming along.

Below: Day 3

Left to right: 1. At last it was fine and sunny in Inverloch, and Geraldene & Pauline could work outside in the sun.  This is the last day of sculpting, and I am sure you can see the progress that Geraldene has made.  Next we will make a mold of Geraldene's work.  2. Geraldene's hands look almost magical as the sun highlights them!!  3. Pauline looks on and offers some more advice.  4 & 5. The finished creation.  6. A toast to Geraldene!!  7.  Husband Billie Joe was very impressed, and we are absolutely thrilled with Geraldene's work.  Well done!!

Below: Day 4

Sadly it is the last day of the workshop.  We have had a great time with Geraldene & Billie Joe!  Today Bob helped Geraldene through the Mold making process, and Geraldene did a great job.  The pictures above show a few parts of the process.  We will be taking Geraldene & Billie Joe back to the airport this evening.  We wish them a safe journey home to Canada.  Geraldene now has a mold of her great sculpture to work with.  Can't wait to see the finished creation!!

We had a great time with Geraldene, and what a talent.  Please don't be put off and think you will not be good enough.  We can help you achieve your dreams.

WORKSHOP 2.

BELOW: pictures from Day 1

Our next Workshop has begun.  We picked up Anne, Lyn and Tori from Melbourne Airport on the 14th, and headed back home for a refreshment, and an early night.

Today, as the pictures below will show, the girls have been hard at it.......

Above: The group gets started, then we see Tori's progress (3rd from right), and Anne's (2nd from right), and Lyn's (right).  Some more talented sculptors!!!

Tori flew in from Alice Springs, Anne from Tasmania, and Lyn from Western Australia, so we have lots to talk about as we find out all about their home towns.

BELOW: Pictures from day 2....

Above:  See what great progress the girls have made!  And only day 2!!

Bottom row, left to right, Tori's portrait of her son Bradley.  Lyn's creation for her friend Pammie, and right, Anne's portrait of her friend's son, Dylan.

I think you will agree that the work is exceptional.

Day 3

ABOVE:  Left to Right.  Tori works on the mold of her creation. Lyn starts work on a hand. Tori starts a hand while the mold plaster dries. Anne works on some detail work, and, Tori's mold is finished and dries in the Inverloch sun.

BELOW:  After a wonderful day's work some "R&R" is in order!  The girls relax over a champagne.

Day 4

ABOVE:  The happy quartet are ready to head for the airport

That is the only picture from day 4!!  We had such a busy day we forgot to take pictures.  Sorry. .

After helping Tori with her mold on day 3, we had 2 more to do on the last day.  We made it!!  The girls each left with a (very heavy) mold  of their work, and we got them to a Motel close to Melbourne Airport ready for their flights home the next morning.  Their work was truly exceptional, and we can't wait to see the results when they pour their molds.

LATEST NEWS:  Lyn Wright has finished her doll and we were thrilled to see that she was Awarded "Best Novice Original Doll" the the Hahndorf Doll Show in South Australia.  Congratulations Lyn!!

Lyn was kind enough to write a few words about her experience.  Thanks Lyn.

"I just wanted to put a few words together to express my gratitude for the wonderful four days I spent at your Workshop in August 2005.

Considering I had never attempted to sculpt prior to your Workshop, and only possessing a desire to learn, I believe it was only through your great teaching methods, fabulous hospitality and idyllically located accommodation that I could have achieved so much in just four days.

Since taking up the art of porcelain doll making about seven years ago, I has a desire to attempt to take the process one step back and try an original.  By now you would have seen the end result of your fabulous teaching!  Nara was born from your workshop.  As you can see, she won the "Best Original Doll by a novice" award at the Hahndorf Extravaganza in South Australia.  I am just so thrilled.

I don't believe I am alone in wanting to create something special from a piece of clay.  For all those out there like me, I can thoroughly recommend the four days of fun, laughter and learning.  All you have to do is to leave your normal day to day life for four days and be pampered.  The class size was also an added bonus.  Large enough to swap ideas and knowledge and bond in friendship, while remaining small enough much one on one teaching with yourself.  Well done the two of you.

I still consider your workshop to be one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had, and am eagerly looking forward to attending another workshop in the not to distant future.

Thanks, Lyn"
